VSLO Student Webinar: Away Rotations from a Host Institution Perspective - March 4

In this webinar, attendees will hear directly from representatives from two institutions representing two highly requested specialties, Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine. They will share insight into their application review and decision-making processes, what to expect during an away rotation, and how students can approach evaluating their rotation experiences.

Dr. Robert Hyde is Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine and Consultant in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. His clinical interests include wilderness and environmental medicine, point-of-care ultrasonography and critical care. He serves as the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education for the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Allison Macerollo, MD
Associate Professor, Department of Family and Community Medicine
Wexner Medical Center, The Ohio State University

Dr. Allison Macerollo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Wexner Medical Center of The Ohio State University.  Her current role as Vice Chair of Education in her department allows her to oversee educational activities related to UME and GME as well as provide faculty development and mentorship for faculty in the department.  She created, implemented and currently co-directs an accelerated medical school track that allows students to graduate medical school in three years and have direct progression into Family Medicine residency.  She loves to provide pipeline to Family Medicine experiences through her role as advisor to FMIG, a summer experience for rising second year students, career counseling for 4th year students planning a career in Family Medicine and supervising Family Medicine residents in the outpatient setting.
