VSLO Student Webinar: Away Rotations 2024-25 - January 25

This webinar addresses common questions about the away rotation process. Attendees will hear directly from a panel of Host institutions and gain an understanding of their respective review and decision-making processes.

Robert Hyde, MD
Dr. Robert Hyde is Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Consultant in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  His clinical interests include wilderness and environmental medicine, point-of-care ultrasonography and critical care. He serves as the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education for the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Allison Macerollo, MD
Dr. Allison Macerollo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Wexner Medical Center of The Ohio State University.  Her current role as Vice Chair of Education in her department allows her to oversee educational activities related to UME and GME as well as provide faculty development and mentorship for faculty in the department.  She created, implemented and currently co-directs an accelerated medical school track that allows students to graduate medical school in three years and have direct progression into Family Medicine residency.  She loves to provide pipeline to Family Medicine experiences through her role as advisor to FMIG, a summer experience for rising second year students, career counseling for 4th year students planning a career in Family Medicine and supervising Family Medicine residents in the outpatient setting.

Ted O’Connell, MD, FAAFP
Dr. Ted O’Connell is the Director of Undergraduate, Graduate, and Continuing Medical Education for Kaiser Permanente Northern California. He is also an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the UC San Francisco School of Medicine. Ted has authored of over 20 medical textbooks, edited 10 additional textbooks, and has written over 900 textbook chapters as well as articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. Ted is Editor-In-Chief of Elsevier’s Clinical Student, an international medical education platform. Ted is also the award-winning host of several podcasts.
