Promising Practices for Evaluation and Assessment of Pathway Programs - August 17

Recorded On: 08/17/2023

Many pathway programs are designed to facilitate learners’ transitions into careers in science and medicine, particularly targeting those who are underrepresented in these careers. However, these programs may not always use robust or strategic assessment and evaluation models to monitor their outcomes and measure their effectiveness.

There is a need for assessment strategies that are responsive to a variety of student demographics and inclusive of measures of student learning, while holding programs accountable to their stated goals and enabling them to demonstrate overall effectiveness. This webinar was developed to support pathway program professionals and other educators in their efforts to build measurable, impactful programs for students to facilitate their journeys into the health professions.

Participants from three institutions will share their assessment and evaluation models.

As a result of participating in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Consider the importance of identifying guiding principles to shape your assessment approach
  2. Reflect on current assessment practices and consider models that may increase program impact
  3. Consider evaluation methodologies that are tailored to your institutional context (leadership, policies, and structure)
