MedBiquitous: Past, Present, Future - April 9

"MedBiquitous: Past, Present, Future” will provide a brief overview of the program’s history and present state, and share how the program is reshaping to meet the current and future demands of the HPE community, including current initiatives and opportunities to collaborate.

“MedBiquitous Community Connection” is a series of free one-hour webinars featuring health professions educators and technology innovators from around the globe. “MedBiquitous Community Connection” provides a forum for community experts to share how digital technologies are promoting improvement and better outcomes across the continuum of health professions education. A portion of each webinar will reserve time for a brief Q&A session, allowing attendees the opportunity to dialogue with guest speakers.

Alexis L. Rossi, PhD, MEd, MA

Director, MedBiquitous

Alexis L. Rossi, PhD, Med, MA, is the Director of MedBiquitous at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Dr. Rossi brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role, overseeing initiatives that advance the use of technology and data in health professions education and healthcare. Her leadership in MedBiquitous is instrumental in developing and implementing standards that improve the quality and interoperability of health professions education data.

Prior to joining the AAMC, Dr. Rossi held various academic, administrative and leadership positions in higher education, medical education and industry, where she focused on strategic decision-making and program development, enhancing educational outcomes, addressing health disparities and integrating innovative technologies. Her extensive background and collaborative spirit, combined with her commitment to advancing the health professions, has positioned her as a respected leader and colleague.

Valerie Smothers

Valerie Smothers is the Data Trust Administrator for Johns Hopkins Medicine. She provides leadership in the development of data governance policies, processes, and infrastructure for use across Johns Hopkins Medicine and coordinates across 9 Data Trust Analytic Teams and approximately 200 data analysts. Working with faculty and operational leaders, she manages data governance processes to review the use of Johns Hopkins Medicine Data for research and quality improvement and serves as the point person for data governance operational issues. She contributes to programs for business intelligence workforce development and data literacy programs for management. 

Ms. Smothers previously served as Deputy Director for MedBiquitous, where she worked with universities, professional organizations, government agencies, and industry to develop technology standards to advance the health professions.
