Identifying Support Systems for DACA Recipients and Undocumented Students as They Approach Residency - October 26
Medical students with DACA status often face unique challenges as they complete undergraduate medical education and prepare for residency due to the uncertainty of their immigration status, inability to access federal student aid funds and limited support networks. With the growing number of medical students with DACA status, medical schools need to develop effective approaches and models that are scalable to support these learners and continue to diversify the physician workforce. This webinar will explore the obstacles medical school DACA recipients and undocumented students face as they approach residency and begin graduate medical education. It will also highlight perspectives from graduate medical education professionals and program directors on logistical and policy/legal considerations when interviewing and selecting students with DACA status for residency positions.
