AAMC Webinar: Build, Buy or Deny: Picking Your Innovations Wisely in Med Ed Tech - November 16

Recorded On: 11/16/2023

This webinar was originally presented as a session at the 2023 Information Technology in Academic Medicine Conference, sponsored by the Group on Information Resources. Because of its popularity, it was chosen to be included in this year’s GIR Programming that this Group hosts throughout the year. Below is the description of what participants will learn about, and there will be time for Q&A at the end.

It’s all available – technologies, solutions, innovations –waiting to be implemented in your medical school environment. And yet, none of us have the budget, resources, time, and staff to maintain and support everything. This session looks at a variety of ed tech innovations implemented at the Feinberg School of Medicine over the past two-three years, including things we purchased, things we built, and things we adjusted. What worked and why, and what lessons did we learn along the way? We’ll show examples in classroom spaces, anatomy innovations, XR products, and home-grown attendance solutions. We’ll provide a scorecard that you can adapt to your own institution to guide your conversations with faculty, students and administration about ed tech innovations and how much you can take on – and why you should or shouldn’t.
