Supplemental ERAS Application Pilot Year 1: Evaluation Results for Specialties and Programs - January 19

Recorded On: 01/19/2022

In the 2021-2022 residency application season, the Electronic Residency Application Service® (ERAS®) offered a pilot administration of our ERAS Supplemental Application (SuppApp). The SuppApp was designed to complement the MyERAS Application by assisting students in sharing new information about themselves with programs while assisting our program community in finding applicants that fit their programs’ setting, values, and mission. The pilot administration of the Supp App was initially offered to only the following specialties: Dermatology, Internal Medicine and General Surgery.

Applicants who opted to submit an ERAS Supplemental Application were asked to provide responses to:

  • Geographic Preference (by region or by urban/suburban/rural setting)
  • Information about their most meaningful work, volunteer or research experiences; and
  • Preference signals

During this webinar, ERAS will share a summary of both qualitative and quantitative findings with attendees. The goal of our Supplemental Application research continues to be centered on fairness, psychometrics and validity, along with reactions from applicants, advisors, and program directors.

AAMC will have a separate session for specialties to learn more about signing up to participate in year two on a date TBD.
