This 60-minute session will address the strategies and processes for choosing and applying to away rotations with insight from the advisor, Home, and Host institution perspectives on the decision-making process. This informative webinar will help advisors better understand the general timeline of students applying to away rotations, how to support your students in developing an effective away rotation application strategy, and what your students should consider when evaluating their options.

Dr. Carolina Quezada
Dr. Quezada is the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education at A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) and also the Regional Director of Medical Education at the Family Healthcare Network (FHCN) Community Health Center (CHC) site. At FHCN, she is the Director of Clinical Education, overseeing the educational programs at FHCN, including ATSU-SOMA and ATSU Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program. She practices Internal Medicine – Pediatrics in a rural FHCN health center site in Woodlake, CA. She went to medical school at Michigan State University and completed her Med-Peds residency at LAC+USC.

She also serves as a mentor in the MiMentor, Central California chapter and holds the position of Chief Admissions Office for the Alliance in Mentorship Advisory Board for MiMentor. In addition, she is also an Advisory Board Member for Latino Medical Student Association for the Western Region.

Petra Bricker
Ms. Bricker has held her position with the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine since 2010. From 2012-2016, she served as an academic advisor, becoming a senior advisor in 2016. In 2020, she transitioned into her current role as manager of the Office of Career Services, in which she works closely with students from mid-MS3 through the MS4 years. In these roles, she has been responsible for administering the VSLO system for both Home and Host roles.
