Away Rotations 101 for Advisors: What advisors need to know to help students through the process - October 21

Includes a Live Event on 10/21/2021 at 3:00 PM (EDT)

The AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities Program™ (VSLO®) will host two webinars, “Away Rotations 101 for Advisors: What advisors need to know to help students through the process,” to kick off the upcoming away rotation season for the advising community:

1) For MD advisors: Thursday, October 21 at 3 p.m. ET

2) For DO advisors: Tuesday, October 26 at 3 p.m. ET

These 60-minute sessions will address the strategies and processes for choosing and applying to away rotations with perspectives from Home and Host institutions on the decision-making process.

Our speaker panels will include an MD/DO advisor, representatives of Home and Host institutions, and a VSLO program facilitator. A Careers in Medicine (CiM) representative will also be available during the Q&A, and time will be included for questions following the panelists' remarks.

Both webinars will highlight:

  • How advisors can help students think through specialties
  • The role of Home institutions from inviting students to releasing applications
  • How Host institutions evaluate students' applications
  • Debunking misconceptions about the application process

These informative, interactive webinars will help you support your students in applying smarter, developing an effective away rotation application strategy, and more easily submitting their applications in the VSLO application service.
